Setting
18th Century Great Britain
About Me
My name is Jane Bennet and I am one of five daughters from Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. At the age of twenty two, people consider me as the most beautiful of my sisters and often the most beautiful in the room. I absolutely love to dance and socialize which is why so many people are fond of my company. A good quality about me is that I am only able to see the good in people, and because of this, I am incapable of suspecting the worst of people. Many people, including the people I am closest to, have trouble telling what my feelings are due to my reserved personality and pleasantness to all who are exposed to my delightful personality.
Volume 1
I overheard mother talking to papa about a new bachelor in town. All she does is worry about finding us a husband. Usually this would not interest me, but this... Mr. Bingley, has seemed to not only catch my attention but the whole town as well! Perhaps I shall meet him soon, perhaps I'll get lucky enough to dance with him at the ball! I shan't get my hopes up.
My goodness what a week! Not only was I fortunate enough to catch the eye and dance at the ball with the handsome Mr. Bingley, I also have been catching his attention everywhere and I do believe (although I won't admit to my family) that I am starting to fall for this gentleman.
Volume II
As I was on a
stroll with my dearest sisters along with our new found officer friend, Mr. Wickham, we had the pleasure of happening upon Mr. Darcy
and Mr. Bingley’s company. Mr. Bingley invited us all to his ball, and I
couldn’t help but smile at the thought of dancing again with him. We all kindly
accepted and told them of our excitement.
When the ball
came, and I saw Mr. Bingley, my heart jumped and I felt my face becoming blush
from his sheer handsomeness. We danced all night and I began to think that
perhaps there could be a future for us.
My family
received a letter from a, Mr. Collins, who is apparently our cousin and the
heir to my fathers wealth and estate. He stayed with us for a while and to our
surprise, asked Elizabeth if he would take his hand in marriage! She proudly
declined which I believe showed her true strength as a woman… I’m not sure I
could have been brave enough to do the same if I had been the one he asked.
More bad news
came to our family… My hopes of having a future with Mr. Bingley were soon
washed down the drain when he left without even a goodbye. I assured my family
that I was ok, although I must say I now know how a broken heart feels.
Nevertheless, I
shall go on with life, keep him out of my thoughts, and due my duty as a woman.
Volume III
My goodness that
crazy girl! Sister Lydia has run off with the officer Mr. Wickham! This has
certainly been a surprise to the family. If only Elizabeth were here, she would
know what to do in this time of distress, I do hope the letter sent to her
containing the news of our sister does not put her into too much of a frenzy. It
is now my time to take my position of woman of the household. Mama is
indisposed in her bedroom with hysteria and papa has gone to London to see if
he could find any information on Lydia.
I do hope we
find out what is going on… It would be nice to have the family back in order
and all together again…
The news of
Lydia and Mr. Wickham becoming a couple has me thinking about dear Mr. Bingley
again…
As soon as I got my mind off of Mr. Bingley, he came to my house! To my surprise he wanted to talk to me. My mother and sisters left the drawing room and just as I was about to give up on him, he asked the most important girl could answer in her life time... He asked for my hand in marriage! Oh all my dreams immediately came true! I have not stopped smiling ever since. To be lucky enough to be called Mrs. Bingley and enjoy a long happy life with the man I love is the only thing I asked for in life and I am happy to say I have finally received it. Now I can live the rest of my life along side Mr. Bingley, with people referring to me as Mrs. Bingley.
